Half Zip Fleece Pullover

Yesterday I made the girls a pair of matching fleece pullovers with a half zipper. I got this fabric as a Christmas gift from a wonderful friend Holly. I thought it was pretty awesomely 80’s and immediately starting planning on making the girls something to wear. This is what I came up with:

Lissie

And then I have to include a whole bunch of pictures from this photo shoot, because the girls had so much fun with it!

And just one for my crafty readers, here is what the inside looks like.

Love my beautifully serged edges? Thanks Joanne!

The Stash

Many of you have figured out by now that I enjoy playing around with my sewing machine. You might have also realized that I am passionate about cloth diapering our kids. So you can imagine my joy when I recently discovered a company called Babyville Boutique that makes PUL (polyurethane laminate) fabric, coordinating snaps, hook and loop tape, and FOE (fold over elastic) for creating cloth diapers, covers and other baby essentials.

So, needless to say, my little mama hands have been hard at work creating a few new covers for both the girls, and for our little Sprout on the way. Check out what I made the girls first.

modeling... the best I can get

And for my little owl lovers…

And here is what Sprout has waiting for him/her (so far!):

Frogs and Turtles

Ducks

Monkeys

And for Daddy’s little Baylor Bear Cub…

The line up

I am having so much fun! And now I can’t wait to see if Sprout will be needing blue or pink covers to go with the ones I have made already.

Someone Should Tell Me It’s July… In Las Vegas

Because yesterday I made the girls snuggly fleece hats.

I couldn’t help myself. First of all, I needed a sewing project, second of all they have entirely too many summer sun hats, third of all I had tons of extra fleece left over from winter.

Luckily the hats will still fit them come cooler weather AND I won’t have to scramble when that temperature does drop to find/make them something to keep them warm. Plus they are just so cute! Don’t you think?

They’re little strawberries!

I am also planning on making a couple little pumpkins for fall…

Dresses for my girls

Recently, while my mother in law was in town we worked on a dress I wanted to make for my girls. I learned how to use basting tape and all sorts of fun things. We made the cupcake dress together, and I made the maroon one by myself the next week. My husband kindly pointed out the colors make it look like hospital scrubs, but I think it is cute none the less. They should fit them in roughly 5-6 months, so they are long sleeve and flannel. My next project will be to make matching diaper covers!

Gifts for the Hellar kiddos

One of my best friends Erin is having a baby boy (Desmond) here in a couple weeks. I decided, since I have been enjoying sewing so much recently, to make him and his big sister (Aubrey) a few gifts. Des got a basic baby quilt and Bree got a big sister dress. Although the dress ended up being way to big for her, she’ll get to enjoy it sometime in the future. I guess too big is at least better than too small!

Clothespin Bag

The other day while I was out hanging the laundry on the clothesline, I decided I wanted a bag to wear over my shoulder that I could carry the clothespins around in, that way I wouldn’t have to bend down and pick them up out of the basket with every new item to hang. (And since we use a retractable clothesline I can’t leave them up all the time) I searched for some patterns, but didn’t see anything like what I was looking for, so I just made one up myself. Here is how it went.

Teddy Bear Dresses

I found a couple of my old teddy bears  that are exactly the same in some of my old toys. I thought it would be fun to make them little dresses (so they look more girly, and so the girls could tell them apart someday) I also had a few flowers leftover from Russell’s mom making the girls’ dresses for the dedication, so I added those to the bears’ dresses and “hair”. Here are some pics.

Baby Dress

So last weekend I went to a baby shower and made a dress for the little girl about to be born. Here are some pictures of the process and the final result. I had also made my girls dresses for fourth of July using a modified version of the pattern found here : http://www.made-by-rae.com/2008/04/free-itty-bitty-baby-dress-pattern.html
